MILAN – The moment deserved a selfie in front of the road sign that marks the entrance to Monza: finallyIlaria Salis is home, for real. The activist newly elected to the European elections with Avs returned today, June 15, to Italy, after 15 months in prison in Hungary. The best gift for her 40th birthday which she will celebrate on Monday close to her family. Salis was able to arrive in Italy within 24 hours of her return to freedom, in fact yesterday her electronic house arrest bracelet was removed after Hungary took note of her nomination for the European Parliament. The accusation against him is of assault against far-right activists, a charge he has always denied.
In the early evening, shortly after 7pm, the 40-year-old activist arrived at her parents’ home in Monza, guarded by the police, after the journey made by car from Budapest together with her father, Robert Salis. And it was the father himself who spoke to the reporters who were waiting for them: “Ilaria is very tired and very tired – he said – because she has had a very intense period of imprisonment, she has undergone torture, so she needs to rest now and will take some time to do it. Now he’s finally home, after all the hard work he’s done.”
Father Roberto Salis: "It’s the end of a nightmare, Ilaria is exhausted, she won’t speak today. There is so much emotion, we took a photograph of ourselves next to the Monza sign,” he said, moved.@TgrRai pic.twitter.com/JFHHbLvKm8
