Health Tour, rheumatologists for the culture of prevention

The Collegio Rheumatologi Italiani-CReI also actively participates in the Tour

ROME – A six-month long ‘health journey’, spread throughout the national territory, which will allow millions of Italians to undergo free consultations aimed at reducing the risk of chronic diseases: this it is the Health Tour, a traveling event promoted by Asc-Confederate Sports Activities, a Sports Promotion Body recognized by CONI, presented yesterday at the Ministry of Health in which the College of Italian Rheumatologists also actively participates -CReI.

“As the College of Rheumatologists we are an integral part of the Tour, because we are increasingly convinced of the need to spread a culture of prevention and correct lifestyles”, says the CReI president, Daniela Marotto, who is actively involved in the Tour also as a member of the Scientific Committee, “Our perspective as specialists and as a scientific society is increasingly that of being at the center of an organization that focuses on local healthcare, an approach which is the real challenge that today our NHS is facing. The opportunity that the Tour offers, with its widespread presence in fifteen regions, is precisely that of bringing a double message: on the one hand that health specialists reach the cities, the squares and people, on the other hand that prevention is an approach that is not difficult and within reach“.
The presence of rheumatologists in the Health Tour – which will involve on average three-four CReI specialists for each stage – is based on consultations aimed at making the various rheumatological pathologies known and “listening” to their alarm bells. Everything happens in collaboration with the other specialists present in the various Italian squares, all engaged in a vast work of contact and dialogue with families and citizens.

The Health Tour will visit fifteen Italian cities (Lazio-Anzio 11/12 May; Abruzzo-Pescara 18/19 May; Umbria-Terni 25/26 May; Marche-Senigallia 15/16 June ; Tuscany-Viareggio 22/23 June; Trentino Alto Adige-Trento 29/30 June; Piedmont-Turin 31 August/1 September; Lombardy-Cremona 7/8 September; September; Emilia Romagna-Cervia 28/29 September; Campania-Benevento 5/6 October; Puglia-Taranto 12/13 October; Each of its stages will see the presence in the squares and in the special public space created and animated by the Tour of CReI‘s rheumatology specialists, “confirming the widespread presence of the members of the College on the national territory”, concludes Daniela Marotto, “in the last Over the years, rheumatologists have become a positive and constant presence alongside Italian citizens and families. CReI intends to confirm this presence by contributing to building a new culture of well-being for Italians. Today more than ever it is necessary to fight chronic diseases by paying attention to the main risk factors – smoking, sedentary lifestyle, alcohol, unhealthy diet – while also paying attention to environmental factors, which as is now known contribute significantly to the creation of that concept of health which is now the basis of every public health action. And the Tour is an effective and simple action that fits precisely into the perspective of primary prevention in which CReI feels deeply committed”.
