PALERMO – Shouting, crowds of men, bars and sticks, sirens from police cars and Carabinieri. Chaos broke out yesterday in the Zen 2 neighborhood of Palermo immediately after passers-by witnessed a disgusting scene: a 60-year-old man he was taking down his pants and underwear in front of a 5 year old girl. From there the chase started with scenes of real guerrilla warfare. The molester saved himself from the lynching attempt by hiding inside an apartment. Numerous residents of the neighborhood gathered under the house, threatening the man and attacking his car. The Carabinieri Police officers who intervened on site in riot gear to escort the man to the police station attempted to calm things down, with the result that 4 men in uniform were injured by the crowd.
The officers “were surrounded and attacked by the crowd – reads a note from thePolice union Coisp – one suffered a head wound and needed stitches, another he received a blow to the head, two others suffered vertebral trauma and various bruises” And again: “The man was arrested and was saved from the lynching of the crowd by the officers – continues the union – but many other people who were in the surrounding areas ran up and took advantage of the pretext to throw themselves with kicks, punches and blunt objects towards the police”.
In the meantime, investigators have started the first investigations to reconstruct what happened and verify the reliability of the reports received.
