Happiness at work? Companies compared, the central-northern recipe

Human relationships, beautiful surroundings, serenity and expression of one's talents

VICENZA – Happiness in the workplace is measured on the basis of the well-being of employees. Or at least that’s the ultimate goal. Eleuterio Marinoni, head of the Christian Union of entrepreneurs and managers of the Veneto, claims that “in recent years there has been a lot of talk about happiness in general, but above all about happiness in the workplace.

To maintain significant productivity it is essential to be happy in the workplace. The parameters of happiness in everyday working life are different for each individual person, but they can be summarized in two main areas: the first are the behaviors that depend on oneself and the second are those good practices that every company that has collaborators can set up to make the workplace is peaceful, call company welfare.

I would like to focus on the first area, which is made up of personal commitments that everyone must take on because they have an effective impact on daily happiness, both inside and outside of work. The first concern is to learn to breathe. Yes, it seems strange, but we generally spend little time teaching ourselves to breathe well.

Proper breathing has an invigorating effect. The second attention is a healthy and balanced diet. We eliminate foods and drinks that are bad for our body to avoid filling ourselves with toxins. The third commitment is that we should consider physical movement.
Walking, running, moving all parts of the body tones our muscle mass and makes us strong, resistant and flexible.

Finally, caring for relationships with people, family, friends and colleagues. Let’s not let ourselves be influenced by the people with whom we share our time, but let us find a way to resolve conflicts and avoid situations of mutual annoyance.

The second area, corporate welfare, is designed by the company governance and provides all those actions, facilities and assistance necessary to build a work environment in which each person, in his/her specificity and as part of a corporate community, is find yourself comfortable. Work is happiness. Let’s do our part and we will be fully satisfied.”

This is echoed by Sergio Paolin, head of Arbos of Solagna (Vicenza), a benefit company, the best eco-sustainable Italian stationery shop. Arbos was founded in 1988, specializing in the production of paper items and recycled materials for the office, gifts and leisure.

Commitment to the environment, passion for paper, love for Italy: this is what Arbos means by “the beautiful Italian stationery”. Paolin also confirms that the company headquarters is located in the middle of the greenery, “in a place where you can still see wild animals and where we have tried to create a peaceful environment for our employees. We are a small group of people, but well blended, serene. We work with serenity and trust – he says – and this can trigger moments of happiness. Doing our job makes us happy and satisfied, especially when we understand that our products are liked I work with care and love”.

Mirco Dallai of the company of the same name from Reggiolo (Re), known throughout the world for its irrigation accessories and technology for moving industrial water, is sure of one fact: “It is necessary to create in the company a peaceful environment, where we can work well. I think it’s a priority, otherwise company productivity will also suffer they buy, therefore it is best to integrate them and treat them with care”.

Dino Feragotto, CEO of the Slovenian Led Luks which operates on the border between Italy and Slovenia in the creation of industrial LED systems for lighting, has many young people on its staff: “Our company has at many young people within it, meetings are often held in English, this internationality makes us even more predisposed to well-being in the company. This means happiness within the workplace serene and predisposing context to express one’s talents”.
