Halili Elmahdi arrested in Turin, accused of terrorism and links to ISIS

The 29-year-old of Moroccan origins, already with an irrevocable sentence, had not yet been expelled. He was the first to translate pro-Daesh propaganda texts into Italian

ROME – Halili Elmahdi, 29 years old, was arrested by the Digos of Turin on charges of participation in an international terrorist association. Of Moroccan origins, Elmanhdi is considered the author of the first jihadist propaganda texts written in Italian.

He already has a conviction in his CV dating back to 2019, with a sentence that became irrevocable in 2022, for having participated in the “Islamic State” terrorist organization.  In fact, he had already ended up in handcuffs twice, in 2015 and 2018, when he lived in the Turin area, with the same accusations of terrorism and links with Daesh, for which on the web he was conducting a real campaign of radicalization and proselytism . During his time in prison, but also once he returned to freedom, the 29-year-old “proudly” declared himself a follower of ISIS, “fearing warlike and violent intentions several times“, as the investigators explain. After his conviction, his Italian citizenship was taken away. At the end of last July he was released from prison, but due to “bureaucratic obstacles” he was not expelled.
