Giulia Cecchettin, Turetta renounces the preliminary hearing and goes to trial

Turetta's defense will not ask for a psychiatric evaluation

ROME – Filippo Turetta has waived the preliminary hearing, scheduled for 16 and 18 July, agreeing to go directly to trial in the Court of Assizes for the femicide of Giulia Cecchettin. This was announced by Turetta’s lawyer, Giovanni Caruso. The decision arises from “the personal maturation process of the very serious crime committed and the desire for justice to take its course as quickly as possible and in everyone’s interest”, explained the lawyer.

As stated in another note “it is not the intention of the defense nor of Filippo Turetta, contrary to what was announced without title and inappropriately by the media-judicial hype, to ask that the accused be subjected to a psychiatric evaluation”.
