The Prosecutor's Office has requested the trial of Filippo Turetta, the ex-girlfriend accused of killing the young Giulia Cecchettin: the premeditation of the crime is disputed

BOLOGNA – The investigations into the femicide ofGiulia Cecchettin, the girl from Vigonovo killed by her ex-boyfriend Filippo Turetta, have been closed on 11 November 2023. The Prosecutor’s Office, which requested the indictment for Turetta accuses him of voluntary homicide also aggravated by premeditationand cruelty, possession of the knife, kidnapping and concealment of a corpse, but also stalking. The accusations were recalled by the Venice prosecutor, Bruno Cherchi, during a press conference held this morning. Turetta finds himself locked up in prison: he was arrested in Germany a few days after his arrest. He had in fact attempted to escape after abandoning Giulia’s body in a gully between Lake Barcis and the Piancavallo area, in Pordenone. Giulia was attacked by him in the street, killed with several stab wounds to the head and neck.

EXCLUDING THE ABBREVIED RITE

The path of the abbreviated procedure cannot be undertaken because the accusation, which from simple voluntary homicide has become premeditated homicide. Now we are waiting for the preliminary hearing to be set. The hope of the prosecutor, despite knowing that the defense will take time to analyze all the documents in the file, is that the time will be “short”. The trial will take place in the Assize Court, where in addition to two magistrates, the jury also includes six lay judges.
