ROME – “Today is a date that has profoundly marked the memory and conscience of our nation. It was 9 May 1978 when the body of Aldo Moro, barbarously murdered by the Red Brigades, was found in the trunk of a car in via Caetani in Rome. On the same day, Peppino Impastato fell at the hands of the mafia. And it was May 9, 2021, the day on which the beatification of Rosario Livatino, the magistrate killed by Stidda, was proclaimed. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote it on social media.

“A statesman, a courageous activist and a Judge– he adds-, whose sacrifices must not be forgotten and must not be in vain. It is no coincidence that in 2007 the Italian Parliament established May 9th is the ‘Day of Remembrance’ dedicated to the memory of all the victims of terrorismand the massacres of this kind. Let us not forget them and let us treasure their teachings we owe it to ourselves, to our country and to our children, to those who were there before us and to those who will be there after us and the values we love”.
