Giorgia Meloni announces: “Income meter suspended”

ROME – “Today I met Deputy Minister Leo, we discussed the contents of the decree that had been prepared by the offices of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and we came to the conclusion that it is better to suspend this decree pending further investigations “. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced it in a video on Instagram on the income meter.

“No big fiscal brother will ever be introduced by the Brothers of Italy, by the center-right, by this government. We have always been against invasive mechanisms such as the income meter applied to honest people and our position it has not changed”, reiterated the Prime Minister. “However, we have inherited a very dangerous situation in which there is no limit to the discretionary power of the financial administration to contest inconsistencies between the standard of living and the declared income. Hence the need to issue a ministerial decree which provides precise guarantees for taxpayers”, continued Meloni, who recalled how “that decree, however, produced several controversies. Today I met the deputy minister Leo, we discussed the contents of the decree which had been prepared by the offices of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance and we have come to the conclusion that it is better to suspend this decree pending further investigations”. “Our objective is and remains – he concluded – that of countering the great escapismand the unacceptable phenomenon, for example, of those who pretend to be no lieutenants but go around in an SUV or go on holiday with a yachtwithout however harassing ordinary people with invasive rules”.
