ROME – Israel and the United States have agreed to resume indirect negotiations with Hamas next week with the aim of reaching an agreement for the release of the hostages and a truce in the Gaza Strip: the sources spoke to Walla, a Tel Aviv-based news site.
The reconstruction was reported by the Times of Israel, Al Jazeera and other media.
The bridging role in the talks should be played as in the past by Egypt and Qatar.
Al Jazeera reported however thatIsrael’s military operations continued today in several areas of the Strip. At least ten people were reportedly killed in an air raid that hit a school near the Jabalia refugee camp, in the northern part of the region. According to Al Jazeera, 17 others, including some children, were injured. “They were playing in the courtyard when suddenly we were bombed” a witness, whose daughter was injured, told the broadcaster.
Operations by Tel Aviv forces were also reported in Rafah, near southern end of the Strip.
The Foreign Minister of Spain, Jose Manuel Albares, has ordered Israel to respect the request of the International Court of Justice to immediately stop the military offensive. “The preventive measures defined by the court, including the cessation of the military offensive in Rafah, are binding,” the leader wrote on the social network X. “Israel must implement them.”
