BARI – An “advanced” field hospital offered by the Italian Red Cross to support the Palestinian population as part of the Food for Gaza initiative: this is the initiative announced today by Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, welcoming the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, in Puglia for the G7.
The meeting between the two took place at Brindisi airport, before the transfer to the Borgo Egnazia resort, where they meeting of the heads of state and government of the forum.

Guterres expressed appreciation for the Food for Gaza initiative, promoted by Italy with the support of the United Nations, in particular the FAO and the World Food Program (WFP/WFP), as well as of the Red Cross and the Red Crescent.
“It is a true humanitarian project, which is welcomed by both the government of Israel and the Palestinian National Authority” highlighted Tajani. “The planes will depart from the Brindisi hub, while the ships will move from Gioia Tauro towards Cyprus and the humanitarian corridor towards Gaza”. The minister added: “We are collecting food but also health and hygiene materials; there will then be a tent for an advanced field hospital offered by the Italian Red Cross”.
