From ‘Mare Fuori’ to Nanni Moretti, now Valentina Romani debuts in bookstores: “Writing made me feel free”

The actress is in bookstores with her first novel 'Guarda che è vero' (published by Rizzoli), the interview

ROME – It’s Valentina Romani’s (more than deserved) moment: finally!

After the great success achieved with her interpretation of Naditza in the successful series ‘Mare Fuori’, the actress is expected on Netflix in the second season of ‘Everything asks for salvation’, in the Rai series ‘Gerri’ in which she is the female protagonist, in the Mediaset biopic ‘Bardot’ and in the miniseries ‘Mike’ – filming of which is underway – where she plays Mike Bongiorno’s wife , Daniela Zuccoli. In Valentina’s life not only cinema. The actress is involved in social issues with her presence in the artistic laboratory of ‘Una Quale Centomila’, the foundation created to prevent and combat violence against women.

Romani has always been an authentic actress who is not afraid to experiment with different roles. A curiosity that pushed her to debut in the publishing world with her first novel ‘Guarda che è vero’ (published by Rizzoli). “I felt I had something to say. An opportunity to free myself from a thought and a concept in which I believe very much, namely that of listening and connecting with ourselves“, said the actress to the Dire agency. Writing this book “was a very long process, but also fun. I had writer’s block – Romani recalled – there were days in which I wrote a lot and days in which I felt blocked. But then once finished, I forgave myself for this because I understood that it’s part of the game“. If this book could become a film “I would like Milena Cocozza to direct it”, declared the actress.

LOOK IT’S TRUE, THE STORY

Twenty-four years old, a great love for the truth, for books and travel, but also for his city, Rome, and an even greater love for his dog, the ‘reason for my existence’. This is Ellen, who does a bit of everything for a living, waiting to understand what she wants to do when she grows up: she translates, above all, but she tried to be a bookseller and now she’s a bartender and, despite herself, also a tutor-mentor – babysitter of Giuseppe, a 7 year old Roma scion. It doesn’t take Ellen long to realize that this latest job, which she accepted only because she wasn’t able to say no at the right time, is filling her life in a completely unexpected moment that she likes very much. In a Roman summer that flows full of commitments and new acquaintances, there is also room for a love, which also arises as a surprise and which promises to be special.
