LONDON – Almost 10 years after ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, George Miller and his dystopian world return to the big screen with ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ strong> (from 23 May in cinemas with Warner Bros. Pictures) to tell the origins of Furiosa, the iconic character played by Charlize Theron who passed the baton to Anya Taylor-Joy.

FURIOSA: IN MAD MAX SAGA, THE INTERVIEW WITH ANYA TAYLOR-JOY AND CHRIS HEMSWORTH

Dire flew to London – for the first time – to meet the cast on the European leg of the ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’ promotion tour.

After ‘The Queen of Chess’, the young actress returns in the role of a feminist heroine between scenes of action and solitude. “Furiosa is resilient and does not suffer this world dominated by violent men, on the contrary she manages to find her own way“, Taylor-Joy told the Dire agency. For the interpreter, taking part in this project “was a good challenge for the body because I have never had the opportunity to do so many stunts and I loved our stunt team, it was nice working with them every single day I come from a classical dance background and therefore I find the precision that goes into creating action scenes very electrifying.” From an emotional point of view, however, “it was hard because I lived months of loneliness because Furiosa is a solitary character with few words. But when I accepted this role I knew that I would live an isolated experience and I am grateful for having lived it“.

Co-protagonist is Chris Hemsworth – “a fan of the saga forever”, as he told us – in our imagination in the role of the superhero Thor. Here he changes clothes, transforms and becomes ugly (as the actor has said on other occasions, even if impossible) to play the villain Dementus, the ‘warlord’ leading a great Horde of Motorcyclists who snatch the young Furiosa from the Green Place of Many Mothers. Furiosa must survive many trials and muster the means to find her way home. “I like the reflection of human beings in this film,a portrait of how people respond differently to adversity and challenges. We see Dementus, who is full of ego, anger and fury: a victim and the result of that wasteland, but that doesn’t justify her actionsThen there’s Furiosa, who went through great pain and suffering but chose to act with nobility and honor,” Hemsworth said during the show. ‘interview.  “I like the message that ultimately our decisions define us, not our circumstances, and that we have power over that,” the Australian actor stressed. The interpreter “immediately loved what Dementus had to offer me. I liked the fact that it forced me to ask myself questions I had never asked myself before and to go places I had never been.”

Feminism, male toxicity and anger that merges with revenge. For the actors, “this film says something very interesting about revenge. Society really likes it, we have an obsession with revenge stories. It’s something tempting and interesting. I think that, in the end, revenge doesn’t bring you to nothing. It’s like that famous law ‘an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. It doesn’t give you what you want, especially in a violent world like the one we see in this film.’
