From 3 to 4 November the Ministerial on sustainable urban development

It will be held in Rome, at Palazzo Altemps. Focus on the challenges to urban policies imposed by ecological, demographic and digital transitions

ROME – The G7 Sustainable Urban Development ministerial meeting will take place from 3 to 4 November in Rome. The event will be hosted in the historic Palazzo Altemps. The meeting continues the path started by the previous presidencies of Germany, in 2022, and Japan, in 2023, and aims to promote a structured discussion between the Ministers for Sustainable Urban Development of the G7 countries and the international institutions involved.
Therefore, the European Commissioner with the delegation on the matter will be present, as well as representatives of OECD, UN-Habitat, European Investment Bank and Urban7, which represents the coordination body of the cities of the G7 countries.

At the heart of the debate, a series of crucial issues for the future of cities in the context of the ongoing global transitions, including how urban policies can respond to the challenges imposed by the ecological, demographic and digital transitions.
Another central aspect will be the promotion of an integrated approach to policies urban, which promotes the adoption of innovative practices for the reduction of emissions, the use of renewable resources and the development of more inclusive cities. The discussion will also touch on issues related to international cooperation and the commitment of the G7 countries to support cities in the transition towards sustainable development models, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
At the end of the work, a final statement will be released outlining the common challenges and joint actions to be taken in the future to promote sustainable urban development, with a particular focus on the next Canadian Presidency starting in 2025.
