ROME – Federica Pellegrini becomes a Barbie. The occasion is the 65th anniversary of the most famous doll in the world. Mattel has included it in its new collection which is inspired by all the athletes who have made a difference in the world of sport.
The former Italian swimmer announced it in a post on Instagram. “I am very happy to have been named Role Model Barbie for 2024 and to have received a One-of-a-Kind doll in my image, considering it a tribute to the successes achieved in my sporting career.” Furthermore, “it conveys a unique and positive message for all girls who have the courage to dream big. By participating in this project, which has its roots in Barbie’s Dream Gap program, I have the concrete possibility of inspiring girls and young women to chase their dreams with self-confidence, challenging obstacles and overcoming prejudices. Barbie – continues Pellegrini – aims to bridge the Dream Gap by encouraging girls to aspire to a wide range of professions, to develop leadership skills and to build self-esteem.
