Fashion, regenerated and supportive: the clothes of Sartoria Sociale Manigolde on the catwalk

Tomorrow, May 25th, green fashion show in Modena with Refashion Show. The proceeds from the event will help vulnerable women

MODENA – Who would have thought that grandmother’s nightgown or father’s work jacket would become fashion clothes. Thanks to the seamstresses of Manigolde and their restyling work, the second-hand clothes, donated by the employees of 50 Emilian companies, will be paraded in a green and solidarity fashion event. The catwalk is ready in a historic place in Modena and so are the over 30 looks created from the recovery of clothes and fabrics. This is the value of Refashion Show, a fashion event dedicated to environmental and social sustainability. It will be staged Saturday 25 May from 6pm in the Church of the Fondazione Collegio San Carlo in Modena. Co-organizing the Sartoria Sociale Manigolde of Finale Emilia(Mo) and the Association for Corporate Social Responsibility led by Elena Salda (in the photo ), entrepreneur and administrator of the metalworking group CMS of Marano sul Panaro (Mo).

CLOTHES “WITH A STORY” DONATED BY THE EMPLOYEES OF 50 “RESPONSIBLE” COMPANIES IN THE PARADE

Clothes with a story will parade on the catwalk, as Elena Salda explains: “Each outfit was searched for and donated by the employees of the 50 companies that are members of the Associationfor CSR, founded in 2014. They are entities that operate in the provinces of Modena and Bologna and in different sectors: these are joint-stock companies, social cooperatives, multi-utilities and banks, manufacturing companies and a multinational company. The search began in January and each item identified was donated accompanied by a story of its origin. We have, for example, the ancient nightgown of one participant’s grandmother and the work jacket of another, the seamstresses of Manigolde, who then carried out a restyling of the leaders, giving them a new life”.

THE PROCEEDS FROM THE SALE OF THE GARMENTS WILL SUPPORT PROJECTS FOR FRAGILE WOMEN

Manigolde is the tailoring shop based on the circular economy that promotes fair and anti-waste fashion, an alternative to the clothing industry which has recently been at the center of criticism for its negative impact on the environment and for the exploitation of the poorest workers in the world.
“Our association – continues Salda – is actively committed to the diffusion of these values and we believe in concrete action. For this reason, the parade will not just be show Each item will be put on sale at the end of the catwalk and the proceeds will go to support the social inclusion projects promoted by Manigolde, aimed mainly at women from fragile situations and eager for redemption through reintegration into work. and integration”. The slogan of the event is, in fact, ‘I deserve a second chance’, a manifesto of inclusion and hope.

“NEW LIFE FOR ITEMS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN IN DRAWERS”

Elena Salda will present the evening, while a narrator will explain the stories contained in each look to revive memories and give new life, green and sustainable, to each dress. These are unique pieces, of great craftsmanship: the fashion show will show the skills of the seamstresses who, in just a few weeks, have valorised objects that would have remained forgotten in drawers or thrown away. “Every fabric, every seam, will speak of a new opportunity for those who made it and for those who will wear it”.
The mayor of Modena Carlo Muzzarelli, the coordinator of < strong>Mani Tese, APS of Finale Emilia which created the Manigolde social tailoring and the representatives of the companies of the Association for Corporate Social Responsibility. Salda is no stranger to promoting initiatives related to corporate responsibility. Promoting the valorization of each individual: this is also corporate sustainability.
