Even in Naples he is leaning towards Gaza like Federico II: “No to genocide”

The protest of university students against Israel's war also extends to Naples: tents are pitched in the University courtyard. "Go ahead with biocotting, we cannot remain silent"

NAPLES – “We join the protests following the national line of the university encampments that we have seen in Bologna and Rome in the last two days and which will also concern other Italian cities. We are launching a single cry that it also aligns with that of young Palestinians and Palestinian organizations in Italy: carry forward the academic boycott, demand an end to the agreements with Israel“. This was told to Dire by Giulia, an Italian-Palestinian student who took part in the camp underway at the Porta di Massa headquarters of the Federico II University of Naples.

Since this morning several tents have been set up in the courtyard of the structure to “adhere to the international call for student intifada”, as the activists of the Student Network for Palestine explain.
The university students are they met this morning in Largo San Marcellino, for a flash-mob with the flags of Palestine, and then crossed some streets of the historic center, reaching Porta di Massa. The procession stopped outside the university’s headquarters, where students contested the decision to “keep the doors of knowledge closed”.

“As students – continues Giulia – we have a responsibility which is to put pressure on the rectors, that of Federico II in the first place, who continues to remain silent strong> in the face of the centuries-old genocide in Palestine and in the face of the bombings in Rafah. We, however, cannot remain silent”.

“Now there is a global movement against the war – says Davide Dioguardi, of the Student Network -, against the genocide in Palestine: the cry comes loudly from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, from France, from many other cities. Naples could not back down, we will not stop until the genocide of the Palestinian people ends.”

But the students’ claims also concern the rector of the Federician university Matteo Lorito. “On April 12, after having occupied the university – recalls Dioguardi -, Lorito had promised that he would respond with facts regarding his departure from the scientific technical committee of the Med-Or foundation, founded by the Leonardo arms company. Since then no one he no longer sees the ghost of Lorito, who had instead promised the activists that he would speak out against the genocide of the Palestinian people. This is very serious”.
