Eurolls: “New hacker attack scenarios, it is important to invest in security”

After a heavy hacker attack, the company with headquarters in Friuli has implemented new all-round defensive strategies to strengthen its cybersecurity defenses

ATTIMIS – Massive and pervasive interventions to enhance cybersecurity in every vital corner of the company: this is the process implemented by Eurolls, the company producing steel and tungsten carbide rollers for the steel industry, with headquarters in Friuli, in Attimis, and production plants in Carnia, Milan, Mexico and Brazil, after being attacked by hackers. These managed to overcome all the access barriers placed to secure their IT systems by entering through the computer of a smart working employee.

Despite not having received a ransom request, the hacker attack on the company was “very strong, very virulent and direct”, according to the president and founder, Renato Railz, so much so that it blocked the operations of some areas of the company – not the productive ones – for a month. It took that long to recover all the data that had been blocked, making it inaccessible.

Having completed the analysis of what happened, Eurolls further invested to strengthen its cybersecurity system. Among the interventions, those aimed at also securing the endpoints relocated by the company and the introduction of measures to contain the vulnerabilities that caused entry to those who attacked the system. “It is essential to constantly invest in IT securityby making the company system solid and armored against external access and safe from crime acting through the web – Railz underlines today – We had adopted all the cybersecurity precautions thinking about the I work in the company. The smart working to which Covid forced us in sudden times, created the conditions for the attack in an unprecedented situation. It is therefore necessary. adopt plans with a high safety threshold and which plan to safeguard the company even in new situations and extreme scenarios”.

It is essential, therefore, in every working context “to protect user access to applications and data by analyzing the context, thus providing highly scalable access doors”, concludes Railz.
