Elodie: “Becoming a mother? I have considered freezing my eggs”

A few days after the release of her new single - "Black Nirvana" - and the announcement of two stadium concerts, the star confesses without filters

ROME – The golden period continues for Elodie. The local star, the most listened to last year on radio and TV, has just returned to the scene with the single “Black Nirvana” and the announcement of two stadium dates that will see her protagonist in 2025. Between one promotional commitment and another – last week we saw her in Piazza San Babila in Milan for a flashmob of her song – the artist confessed herself in the pages of Vanity Fair where she appears on the cover.

Elodie, 34 years old, today is more confident than ever and to those who criticize her she responded: “People are still indignant because I undress. And then I undress more. To say two things. The first: I do what I want with my body, and I’m not sexualizing it even if I could. The second: the moment will come when you will get tired of commenting that I am in my underwear and you will speak up on matters of greater importance“.

Important issues such as motherhood: “I’m thinking about it. I have also taken into consideration the possibility of freezing the eggs”. Something she would also do on her own: “The moment we manage to recognize that there is no single rigid idea of family, we will all be more happy: two men, two women, a mother and her child, a polyamorous couple. The emotional sphere should be an untouchable place. I become crazy, ferocious, when someone allows themselves to judge me”.

“THE FEAR OF NOT BEING A GOOD MOTHER HAS STOPPED ME”

What has held you back so far “The fear of not being good mother, of not being able to reconcile motherhood and career, which I don’t want to give up. To suffer your life being turned upside down. The real truth is that I’m 34 years old and yet I feel 16: it’s strange, I’m a woman when I carry out important work projects, otherwise I’m a little girl who goes around in a hoodie and he thinks he’s a bit like Gian Burrasca. But can you be Gian Burrasca and a mother at the same time?“.

Deeply in love with his Andrea Iannone , Elodie doesn’t even rule out the possibility of marriage: “It depends on how things are done. It can still be a party. Now it’s my mom’s wedding. For the occasion he asked me to sing a song a cappella and I die, because it embarrasses me: my impetuosity hides a form of shyness. But I just can’t back out.”

“I NEVER DREAMED OF THE WHITE DRESS”

I never dreamed of the white dress – she said – not even as a girl, when I was already disturbed by the idea that a woman would leave home only after getting married. Then, it seems strange to me that two lovers should sign a contract: being together should be enough to enforce the rights of the couple.”
