PALERMO – A blow to the drug business in two popular neighborhoods of Palermo: Brancaccio and Sperone. The police made 26 arrests for association aimed at drug trafficking, aggravated by the mafia method, and drug dealing. Twenty-one suspects ended up in prison, five under house arrest.
The investigation has shed light on the cocaine and hashish sales chain between Brancaccio and Sperone. The mafia’s interests in the distribution of profits from drug dealing have also been discovered. The sale of drugs took place 24 hours a day, with a strict rotation of pushers and lookouts.
The investigation also made use of undercover police officers. The investigators infiltrated the trafficking gang, also establishing direct contact with the top exponents of the criminal group.
