AMARO (Udine) – Two cobots, collaborative robots, have become part of the production unit of Advan, a Friulian company that for 25 years has designed and created some of the most innovative solutions for dental implantology for the international market. This enriches the production process of high technology in the headquarters of Amaro, in Carnia. The company has decided to replace with two cobots, the repetitive work that previously belonged to humans.
Mario Zearo, CEO of Advan, explains how the two robots are integrated into a micromechanical production that must respect very high standards of quality and precision, since these are medical systems. “Our cobots are the latest step in the optimization of the production process. We are one with the hallmarks of industry 4.0, everything is interconnected. Collaborative robots, therefore, will work together with humans, in a free environment”.
“More precisely – explains Zearo – these are two anthropomorphic arms specialized in the processing of extremely small and light parts. In Advan, in fact, components of medical systems for implantology are processed that measure, on average, 10 millimeters in length and 4 millimeters in diameter. The materials selected are very particular because they are intended to guarantee osseointegration, that is, compatibility in the human organism, without risks”.
Advan has been developing its own research for 25 years and has developed know-how which is also based on new generation machine tools in a location where all technologies more advanced ones contribute to working with accuracy and precision.
The two cobots improve human activities because, the CEO emphasizes, “they will take charge of the most repetitive phases of the production cycle, freeing workers from the danger of alienation and in safety. Furthermore, the risk of error, always probable in highly repetitive phases, is significantly reduced”.
Zearo, an engineer with 40 years of experience also emphasizes: “In our company, as in many others, robotics does not reduce the number of employees but transforms the work map: there will instead be requests for new profiles. We will hire engineers and product specialists instead of looking for labor destined for low-professional content jobs. The people who are currently working with our cobots are satisfied: involved in the project from the beginning, they have learned new skills, responsible for an innovative phase of production. Technology offers answers to complex questions. And robots give good health and competitiveness to the company”.
In the Made in Italy industry, especially manufacturing, the presence of robots has grown constantly. Three years ago we witnessed a real boom: +50% of active robots, 1 for every 11 thousand ‘human’ workers (source: International Federation of Robotics-Ifr).
