Dazn increases prices again, and consumers protest

Increases from 10% to 20% also for those who had signed up for an annual subscription. Udicon: "Irresponsible decision"

ROME – Consumers protest for yet another Rise in Dazn‘s prices. Next will be the first season of the platform’s new five-year agreement with Serie A: another 5 years that will earn the clubs around 900 million euros per season. But the update of the price list takes place when the championship has not yet finished, only 5 months after the last one, in January.

“Despite the previous price increases in January, which had already seen a 20% increase, DAZN is now proposing further increases without any actual improvement in the services offered”, says Martina Donini, national president of Udicon (Consumers’ Defense Union ). Who then explains the increases:
“Subscribers who had chosen the Dazn Plus plan with single payment are receiving emails with the communication of an increase from 539 euros to 599 euros per year, an increase of over 10%. Those who prefer monthly deferred payments, however, now find themselves paying 59.99 euros per month compared to 49.99 euros in January, an increase of more than 20% compared to last year subscribers via the Play Store see the costs further aggravated, with the Dazn Plus plan reaching 69.99 euros per month”.

“Dazn justifies these increases by talking about new offers and contents – continues Donini -, such as the broadcast of the Volleyball Nations League and the coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympics. However, these additions do not compensate for the lack of improvements in the quality of the football match streaming service, which remains insufficient Consumers pay more, but technical problems and the disservices persist. Further increasing the cost of season tickets is an irresponsible decision that puts the patience of Italian families to the test.”
