ROME – Italian cinema on stage in the Cinecittà studios for the 69th edition of the David di Donatello awards, hosted by Carlo Conti and Alessia Marcuzzi.
The awards ceremony opened with a tribute to Federico Fellini on the notes of Nino Rota, which merged with those of Mahmood who sang and danced to the Sanremo hit ‘Tuta Gold’.
DAVID DI DONATELLO 2024, THERE IS STILL THE SPECTATOR’S DAVID TOMORROW. CORTELLESI: “
The first statuette of the evening goes to ‘There’s Still Tomorrow’ by Paola Cortellesi, which won the Spectator’s David. The film has been seen by over 5 million people“whom I thank, we dream of full halls and shared emotions. I don’t like those who consider the public a mass of strangers and I like to think that there are those who have fought, those who have made mistakes, who doesn’t think like me. Thanks to the five million who made the heroic gesture of leaving home, paying for a ticket, looking for parking to see our film, like a lady who told us ‘I was Delia but I’m not anymore.”
Press again for ‘There’s Still Tomorrow’. The film takes home the David di Donatello for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Emanuela Fanelli. “The biggest thanks goes to Paola Cortellesi, for wanting me to be her Marisa. ‘ There’s Still Tomorrow’ is a film that has become so great because you made it Paola. I dedicate this award to my family, with all the meanings that this award can have and in particular to my mother and father who are certainly involved. tears on the couch,” the actress said in tears on stage.
Best supporting actor is Elio Germano for his performance in ‘Palazzina Laf’, Michele Riondino’s directorial debut. “I would like to share this award with Michele, come on stage. You wanted to do this role because I refused to be the protagonist. We always fight together and this film was too. We tell a very current story because it talks about work , a theme that concerns us a lot. It often violates our territories, Taranto is a city violated by profit, cinema cannot change things but perhaps the gaze can”, declared the actor.
