Damiano David releases “Born with a broken heart”: “A song born after a dark period”

ROME – “Born with a broken heart”, the new single by Damiano David, is out today on the radio and digitally. The song is the second single, after “Silverlines”, from the solo project of the Måneskin frontman.
“When I wrote this song, I was coming out of a very dark moment – says Damiano – I felt apathetic and I was afraid I had lost my ability to feel and experience feelings, both positive and negative. This all happened at the time I was starting the most important relationship of my life and the fear of not being ready or good enough was huge. I think this song was a way to make sense of what I was feeling, looking at it from a less scary perspective. I’m glad I don’t feel that way anymore, but I think a lot of people can relate to that feeling of inadequacy.”
“Born With A Broken Heart” is uptempo, overwhelming and full of energy, in contrast to the touching and deeply emotional lyrics.
The single is accompanied by a video, directed by Aerin Moreno, in which the artist shows himself in a totally new guise and highlights his skills as a “shapeshifter”, as he defined himself, in a sort of momentary illusion, a parenthesis of color in a life in black and white. The video highlights the difference between Damiano as a person, with his limits, his normality and his fragilities and the worlds and magic that music can create, all wrapped in a cinematic atmosphere typical of the great Hollywood productions.
About the video, Damiano says: “The video represents my fantasy. A world where, no matter what, once you walk through the door, everything becomes magical and beautiful. It’s a way of saying that not everything that is negative will hurt you, but sometimes it will actually take you to the next chapter of your life. We all have the ability to transform negative experiences into something meaningful for us.”

A few days ago, Damiano made his solo debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where he performed “Silverlines” live and “Born With A Broken Heart” in world premiere. The video with the exclusive performance of the new single on The Tonight Show will be available online from Monday, October 28.
