ROME – A group of cyclists in the foreground, entirely colored pink, as they speed through some places in Rome, from the Imperial Forums to the beaches of Ostia.
This is the new mural created by Lucamaleonte in honor of the Giro d’Italia, which ended yesterday with the final stage in the capital, inaugurated this afternoon in Piazza Conca d’Oro.
The murals in the non-central neighborhoods of Rome on the occasion of the cycling race most loved by Italians has now become a tradition that has reached its second year.
Lucacamaleonte’s work, created in three days of work, was inaugurated in the presence of Tadej Pogacar, fresh winner of the Giro, and the mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, as well as the writer himself.
“My passion for the Giro began when I was little and watched TV with my dad – explained the artist – The desire was not to portray a single athlete in particular but to shoot a group in which everyone could feel represented, interspersed with some postcards of Rome”
“The Romans are now in love with the Giro – added Gualtieri – it was nice to inaugurate this work with Pogacar, one of the strongest cyclists in history, who has just won the second edition of the Giro with the final stage in Rome. it will be a third in 2025”.
