Countdown in Naples for the ‘Live Festival 2024’: it’s a parade of great artists

Many artists will perform, from Negramaro to Geolier, able to satisfy audiences of different tastes and ages

NAPLES – Piazza del Plebiscito and the Maradona stadium will be the two stages that will host the ‘Live Festival 2024’ in Naples. Many artists will perform, from Negramaro to Geolier, able to satisfy audiences of different tastes and ages. ‘The calendar of large live concerts – explained the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi during the presentation of the program – is the result of a long planning, started by the Administration two years ago and the result of intense work linked to the Napoli Città project of Music.

Naples confirms itself at the center of the music industry, reaffirming a credibility already achieved last year, when Coldplay, an international band, chose the Maradona Stadium for a stop on their world tour in 30 years away from U2. This year Naples City of Music continues in the name of great artists, with a program full of concerts, capable of offering a varied program for all generations. The appointments at the Plebiscite and at the stadium give us numbers from a true music city, with several dates immediately sold out. The artists will not limit themselves to music, but will leave initiatives in the area with a strong social impact for young people and vulnerable groups, an element that makes the Naples City of Music Live Festival 2024 even more unique on the national scene ‘. The national artists in various capacities engaged with and for the City of Music, explains the city Administration, will also enhance the artistic and professional resources of our music industry and for inclusion, training and fight against educational poverty activities, through music as instrument of economic, social and cultural development and growth.

THE PROGRAM

Gianni Fiorellino will open the Live Festival 2024 season on May 31st at the Maradona. The concert will be preceded by the screening of a docufilm. In June it will be Ultimo’s turn, with two dates on the 8th and 9th. And again, on June 15th it will be Negramaro who will take the stage at the Maradona stadium. Geolier will then perform on three dates: June 21st, 22nd and 23rd. Nino D’Angelo closes the series of concerts at the Maradona with his live performance on 29 June. The 14 concerts planned in Piazza del Plebiscito were organized in synergy with the Superintendency of Cultural Heritage. Gigi D’Alessio will kick off the season with 8 concerts in June (7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 16). The return of Renato Zero to the city is highly anticipated, as he will perform on double dates, with two concerts in the square on 21 and 22 June. The music festival then continues with a large free concert event: on 27 June, for the first time in Naples, Radio Italia Live – Il Concerto will be held in Piazza del Plebiscito, created in collaboration with the Municipality of Naples. The following day, June 28th, it will be the turn of the Neapolitan singer-songwriter Tropico. In the September program, however, there is a double appointment, on the 17th and 18th, with the Co’Sang reunion. Naples City of Music – Live Festival 2024is not just shows and live shows, but also initiatives of solidarity, inclusion and attention to young people. In fact, each artist who will perform as part of the Festival has decided to support a solidarity project in support of local Foundations and Associations. Gianni Fiorellino will meet, for training masterclasses, the children of the Fondazione Famiglia di Maria, which works in favor of minors and families experiencing socio-economic difficulties.

Gigi D’Alessio will be at the side of the Santobono Pausilipon Onlus Foundation and the pediatric hospital for the third consecutive year, to support the fundraising for the ‘Care at home’ project, aimed at purchase of a camper equipped with all the cutting-edge medical equipment, to guarantee home care for small pediatric patients. Ultimo has instead developed a special project with the Foqus Foundation, reserving participation in his concerts at the Maradona for 100 young people from the Foundation. A project that renews last year’s collaboration, when the artist, on the occasion of the presentation of his song ‘Occhi lucidi’, donated the installation of Christmas lights and a painting created by the singer himself to the Foundation.

The Negramaros support the Pino Daniele Foundation project ‘The sounds of emotions’ which, thanks to the collaboration with the Giuseppe Verdi conservatory of Milan and the Foqus Foundation, will guarantee an experiential sound-musical journey to the children of the Quartieri Spagnoli, and will allow the implementation of initiatives and workshop activities related to music, to combat the phenomenon of school dropout. Renato Zero, after his live shows in Piazza del Plebiscito, celebrates his long-awaited return to Naples by meeting his audience on June 24th, with a talk that will be held in the spaces of the Foqus Foundation, in the Quartieri Spagnoli. On that occasion, the artist will deliver the new playing uniforms as gifts to the young athletes of the ‘Spartak San Gennaro’ football team.

Geolier has chosen to embrace a project to combat school dropout in the Scampia district. The rapper will in fact support, through the Città Nuova Foundation, the social tailoring that created the fatto@scampia brand, a laboratory born from an asset confiscated from the Camorra and designed for girls and boys in the neighborhood at risk of marginalization after dropping out of school. Radio Italia Live – The concert, for the first time in Naples, supports the project of the Santobono Pausilipon Foundation and the pediatric hospital, promoting the solidarity number for the collection of funds for the ‘Care at home’ project in the days leading up to the event and on the occasion of the broadcast of the concert on all the group’s media Radio Italia, Sky Uno, TV8 and Now. Tropico, born Davide Petrella, will donate a portion of the proceeds from the concert to one of the restoration and recovery operations of the city’s art sites, through the Adopt a statue project of the Friends of Naples association.

Finally, Nino D’Angelo, who has always been committed to his neighborhood of origin, San Pietro a Patierno, will bring a project to support a solidarity cause. Not just big events. In Naples, on the occasion of the 2024 Music Festival, the streets and squares of the city will host stages and platforms where local and non-local artists can freely perform (with reservations on the festadellamusicaitalia.it portal). In addition to the performances on 21 June, there will be an in-depth meeting dedicated to the role of orchestras and musical bands, a key theme of the 2024 edition, scheduled for Thursday 20 June at Palazzo Cavalcanti, headquarters of the Music Office of the Municipality of Naples. ‘Naples City of Music is a project strongly supported by Mayor Manfredi which in two years has produced excellent results, among other things by concretely reversing the orientations of the music industry and live shows in favor of Naples which is finally at the center of national and international music. “I am very satisfied – underlined the mayor’s delegate for the music and audiovisual industry Ferdinando Tozzi – that the great national music players have chosen Naples and wanted to be part of the project of the city of music above all for young people, education and social and inclusion because music is business but also cultural and social development and growth, this is also a cultural industry! Having artists of this caliber performing in the city and leaving something behind to the city it is a unicum of which Naples must be proud”.
