MILAN – An unprecedented Piazza della Scala, with the Milan living room strewn with 172 coffins, as many as there were victims at work in 2023 in Lombardy. This is the scenario offered to citizens and tourists this morning by Uil to stimulate the institutions on the problem of deaths at work. Also listening to the Uil secretary Pierpaolo Bombardieri was the mayor Giuseppe Sala.
“The coffins brought to the most important squares of the large Italian cities bear witness to the need to do more. We continue to ask the prime minister to immediately convene a table and that this becomes the theme priority of the government by putting employers’ associations, trade union organizations and ministers who can lend a hand at the same table. We must do more and we must do it quickly”, said Bombardieri, who also insisted on the introduction of the crime of murder on the work. “A country that has nautical homicide needs to recognize that when the structures that should guarantee safety are modified in the workplace, in that case we don’t have accidents, they are homicides and should be treated as such.”
