Butcher attacks two thieves who enter the house with a knife, one dies: it happened in Reggio Calabria

The man who defended himself is a butcher and now has to answer for murder and attempted murder: the man who later died was dumped by his accomplices in front of the Reggio Calabria hospital

BOLOGNA – He surprised the thieves in the house and attacked them with a knife, fatally wounding one. It happened yesterday in Reggio Calabria and now the protagonist of this story, a 50-year-old with no criminal record who is a butcher by profession, has been arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder.
The man who died is called Alfio Stancampiano and was thirty years old: yesterday morning he had been abandoned, injured, in the gardens in front of the Morelli hospital, where he had been taken by car. The investigations began immediately and, within 24 hours, they roughly reconstructed what happened and led to the arrest of the butcher.

The attempted robbery which ended in tragedy took place in Rosario Valanidi, a neighborhood on the southern outskirts of the Calabrian city: there were four thieves who entered the butcher’s house, including the victim. It was the other accomplices who, aboard a Fiat Punto, accompanied Stancambiano to the hospital, abandoning him there. Another of the four took a ferry to Messina, attempting to escape, but then had to ask for help for his injuries and was treated at Messina hospital. The Prosecutor’s Office has recovered the murder weapon and seized the house where the murder took place: the investigations will have to clarify the dynamics and also the context in which the attack which turned into a tragedy took place. The gang of four robbers is from Catania, not Reggio Calabria.
