Businesses, the proposal: “Insert the word construction in the name of the ministry of infrastructure”

The associations meet Salvini, Cicas: "Recognition and order for the sector"

ROME – “Our proposal is that the name of the ministry should be Infrastructure, Construction and Transport. The introduction of the word ‘construction’ will allow all construction SMEs – which number over 300 thousand – to feel represented in a Department, that of construction, which thus rises to the dignity of a ministry”. This is what Giuseppe Mazzullo, national president of the Cicas Italia Confederation, declared on the sidelines of the meeting which took place in Rome at the Department of Infrastructure and Transport in the presence of the minister Matteo Salvini, and which was also attended by the president Cna Campania, Sabatino Nocerino, and the general director of the Cande association Roberto Cervellini representing as many as 20 legal entities including associations and confederations representing the construction sector.

A proposal presented to Salvini through the signing of a common manifesto, which asks for the opportunity for construction SMEs to have clear identification and representation within the ministry. This would not be a merely formal but substantial fact, which would concretely lead to a reorganization of the current Department by detaching that of residential construction and establishing six dedicated operational offices, one complementary to the other. This will also give order to a sector “which will be the protagonist for the next 26 years at least – it was highlighted – regarding the redevelopment of private properties precisely following the EU Directive in reference to ecological transition, seismic safety , safety in the workplace, removal and inertisation of asbestos, planning and removal of architectural barriers, reform of the TUE”.

DG Roberto Cervellini reported the following considerations to the minister: “The new Department will be able to be an excellent reference for the minister and for the country as a European model in planning the result set by Brussels while respecting Italy’s needs. The construction sector is the second leading sector of our country with 17% of GDPafter manufacturing, and therefore it must be supported”. The president of Cna Costruttori Campania, Sabatino Nocerino, asked Salvini “to take an interest , with the aim of protecting construction SMEs, also from the issue of stranded credits in the tax drawers” of companies, proposing the purchase of credits by CDP and Mediocredito Centrale, “also to protect the taxpayer who is currently the victim of financial speculation. The intervention of a public fund becomes fundamental, in order to contain costs and reinvest the revenues obtained by the State in social housing” concluded Nocerino.
