ROME – Bologna-Milan is being played. How, where and when is yet to be determined. But the Lega Calcio has reopened the door that the mayor of Bologna Matteo Lepore had closed with an ordinance yesterday afternoon postponing the Serie A match scheduled for Saturday at 6 pm at the Dall’Ara stadium.
The Lega di Serie A has confirmed the match, but on neutral ground (with Como first choice) and behind closed doors in case it cannot be played in Bologna. A meeting between Mayor Lepore and Prefect Attilio Visconti is scheduled for today.
Yesterday afternoon, the Municipality had issued a note postponing the match “due to rain forecasts and the restoration of the situation in the neighborhood (Porto-Saragozza) that hosts the stadium”. But the ordinance was not agreed with the prefect, and the mayor alone would not have the power to cancel a Serie A match, a task that falls to the organizing body, the League.
The very crowded calendar did the rest, and the League has overtaken the municipal administration on the right. In short: the game is on. Where, how and when we will know shortly.
