The counting of votes for the local elections has already issued some verdicts, while others have been postponed to the second round

ROME – Piedmont at the centre-right with the confirmation of governor Alberto Cirio; Bergamo, Cagliari and Livorno in the first round on the centre-left; Pescara, Pesaro and Campobasso in the centre-right; Florence and Bari in the runoff, Perugia in the balance. The counting of votes for the local elections has already issued some verdicts, while others have been postponed to the second round. There is a wait, however, for the capitals of Tuscany, Puglia and Umbria, the latter engaged in a head-to-head battle between the candidates in the last vote.

CIRIO: “OVER 20 POINTS OF DISTACCO, A CLEAR VICTORY” “

Analysing the vote, Alberto Cirio praised not only Fdi and Lega but also “my party, of which I am deputy secretary” and recalled Tajani’s call of congratulations . Said of the greatness of Berlusconi “who, even if he is no longer there, continues to be there”, Forza Italia must not be “a museum party but a reassuring party. People need to be reassured and the duty of a serious political force is to protect “. It is the nature of the victory that will lead the reconfirmed president to govern decisively. “More than 20 points behind us is a clear victory. We are strong as a coalition: healthy yesterday at the European Championships” and today in the region, thanks also to a “civic list that gave voice to that moderate component which in an administrative election” serves to “speak to a world that goes beyond the center-right coalition”. “We are therefore – said Cirio – in the best conditions to face the problems, also because the economic situation will be the best for Piedmont, it will be an extraordinary situation for wealth, GDP, cars and aerospace”.

CARNEVALI FIRST MAYOR IN THE HISTORY OF BERGAMO

In Bergamo, the centre-left candidate Elena Carnevali wins, crowned as the new mayor of Bergamo by her predecessor, the new PD MEP Giorgio Gori. “I am happy for Bergamo, happy for Elena Carnevali –the first female mayor in the history of the city-, happy for all the people who set out with her to ensure the our community, other years of good politics and good administration. It went well – said Gori on his social media – Elena won already in the first round, and I am ready to put the baton in her hands. I am leaving a role that I loved and that he gave me so much, but I couldn’t hope for betters for the new story that will begin from here”.

ZEDDA IN CAGLIARI DEDICATES THE VICTORY TO BERLINGUER AND MATTEOTTI

The first thanks went to the citizens of Cagliari, but then Massimo Zedda, the new mayor of the Sardinian capital, wanted to remember in his first outing as mayor were two totems of the left, Enrico Berlinguer and Giacomo Matteotti. He did so in front of sympathizers and reporters at the headquarters of the Cagliari PD, in a very crowded press conference, called in the late afternoon after the ” almost” official victory in the first round (the complete counting of the sections will arrive late in the evening, but the gap separating him from the centre-right challenger, Alessandra Zedda, is now too wide).

IN FLORENCE SCHIMDT BELIEVES IN THE REMUNTADA

Eike Schmidt believes it. The ‘remuntada’ in Florence is possible. The centre-right candidate says this when the sections scrutinized are 268 out of 360 in total and the gap from the representative of the Democratic Party, Sara Funaro, remains around ten points: 33 to 43. When the points of detachment are “from 8 to 12 the turnaround is absolutely possible. It has already happened other times in Tuscany, I’m thinking of Pistoia, Arezzo”. Translated, “the game is very open and this will make the next two weeks much more interesting”, he observes, commenting on the results with journalists. Schmidt, therefore, also tries to dictate the political line: “Italia Viva? I will try to convince the Florentines, not other political forces”. Of course, “if other political forces want to talk to us, we will naturally be open to dialogue”.

MAYOR LUCA SALVETTI CONFIRMED IN LIVORNO

Luca Salvetti will be reconfirmed at the helm of Livorno. When only three sections remained to be scrutinized (as reported on the municipal web page dedicated to administrative elections) the outgoing mayor at the head of the center-left coalition had 51.7% of the votes. Alessandro Guarducci was much further behind , candidate of the centre-right, with 22.5%, and Valentina Barale, supported by the M5S and Rifondazione, stuck at 18.8%. The centre-left is confirmed in Scandicci too: the tricolor sash will be worn by Claudia Sereni who is elected with 55.8% of the votes, as certified by the Viminale ‘Eligendo’ platform.

FERRARA, FABBRI EXULTS ON FB: UNIMAGINABLE RESULT

“I really don’t know what to say. I would never have imagined a result like this.” This is how the post begins with which the mayor of Ferrara Alan Fabbri comments on the outcome of the municipal elections in the city of Este, which sees him ahead by over 20 percentage points over his centre-left challenger Fabio Anselmo< /strong> when there are just under 20 sections left to scrutinize. In his post, the mayor thanks his voters “heartily”, stating that “today I am not winning, but you. You who have decided to continue the change started in 2019, you who have chosen to be protagonists in your city, you who, together with me, want to continue to dream big.”
