Beaten and threatened for 29 years by her husband, then the complaint and the end of the nightmare

The story comes from a small town in the province of Catania

PALERMO – Twenty-nine years of abuse, violence, aggression and threats. Life for a woman from a small town in Catania had, in fact, always been hell. And in that hell there were also the children who suffered the same treatment from their father, and the woman’s husband. All this until April this year, when the woman decided to report everything to the police.

THE BEGINNING OF THE NIGHTMARE IN 1995

Thanks to the intervention of the military, therefore, an authentic liberation with the arrest of the husband. This is a 55-year-old who ended up under house arrest in a home other than the family home, with an electronic bracelet. The man is accused of domestic abuse. According to the police, who listened to and put the victim’s complaint on paper, the aggressive conduct towards his wife and children had been going on since 1995.

“I’LL KILL YOU AND LEAVE YOU WHERE YOU ARE”

The victim spoke of “continuous harassment and denigration – according to the military -, in a crescendo of physical and verbal violence, resulting in death threats with knives and throwing objects”. The same treatment would have been reserved by the man for his children, both as minors and later. “I’ll kill you and leave you where you are” is one of the phrases addressed by the 55-year-old to his wife and children, even in front of friends and relatives.

And again: slaps, punches and injuries to the wife during the arguments in circumstances also noticed by people who regularly frequented the family and who then provided the police with details that strengthened the victim’s complaint , who, for two years, had been sleeping on the sofa at home for fear that her husband might harm her at night.
