ROME – The Geo Barents, a search and rescue ship of Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has recovered 11 lifeless bodies of migrants from the water off the coast of Libya.
After the intervention in which it recovered 146 migrants in the Libyan SAR area, in a series of posts on thebodies “float in water”. In the meantime, the rescue teams reached the point and identified a boat with around twenty people on board, who were rescued. “Another 9 hours of operations to extract the 11 lifeless bodies”, adds MSF, which then released a photograph of the lifeboat from above with the remains of the migrants closed in white sheets. “Europe must find legal and safe ways for these people” asks the organization.
In the meantime, the Geo Barents ship is heading towards the port of Genoa, to disembark the 146 already rescued.
