Athletics, it’s ‘Gimbo’ night Tamberi: Mattarella is also at the Olimpico

The President of the Republic chose to be present at the Olimpico on Gimbo Tamberi's evening: the athlete passed under the grandstand and greeted him

ROME – The President of the Republic,Sergio Mattarella, in the grandstand at the Olympic stadium in Rome for the European Athletics Championships. The head of state has chosen the evening of ‘Gimbo’ Tamberi, the one who in the next few days will receive the tricolor flag at the Quirinale ready to be waved in the inaugural ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
Next to Mattarella alsothe president of CONI, Giovanni Malagò, and the minister of Sport, Andrea Abodi.
The President was welcomed by the national anthem. And Tamberi, during the presentation before the start of his high jump competition, passed under the grandstand to greet Mattarella: “Thank you for being here“.
