ROME – ‘The Year of the Egg’ finally arrives at the cinema, directed by Claudio Casale with Yile Yara Vianello, Andrea Palma and Regina Orioli. The film won a Biennale College award at the Venice International Film Festival and was made in collaboration with Sardegna film commission and Rai Cinema. It will begin its journey tonight at the Nuovo Cinema Aquila in Rome at 9pm, in an evening event that will see the director and cast present. ‘The Year of the Egg’ is a love story, the sincere and stainless union between the two protagonists, a couple expecting their first child. While waiting for the birth, the couple joins the cult of the egg, a sort of community of people who have distanced themselves from chaotic daily life and choose to live in a sort of commune. But despite all living together, after a tragedy, the couple will discover with bitterness that they are still left alone and that it is up to them to face the pain. And in the face of tragedy, the guru’s teachings and his ‘shell’ are not enough to avoid the damage.

Claudio Casale, born in Rome on 25 August 1986, after graduating in Economics he moved to live in Asia. Back in Rome, he approached directing and made his first independent documentary Piccolo Mondo Cane (2017). In the same year he attended a directing course at the New York Film Academy. In 2018 his My Tyson won the MigrArti award for best documentary during the 75th Venice International Film Festival. In 2020, with Om Devi: Sheroes Revolution, he is in competition in Venice in the Venice VR Expanded section. In 2021 he was nominated for a David di Donatello with Shero, a short documentary that expands one of Om Devi’s stories. The Year of Man is his first feature film.
