Alex Marangon: it’s murder. Breakthrough in the investigation into the 25-year-old found dead in the Piave

The autopsy reveals the worst hypothesis: the boy who had participated in the party with shamanic rites was killed with fatal blows to the head and chest. "Who knows, speak"

BOLOGNA – The autopsy gives a turning point to the investigations intoto the death of Alex Marangon, the 25-year-old found dead in the Piave river, after having participated in a party of hallucinogens and shamanic rites in the province of Treviso. From the hypothesis of an accidental suicide, the investigation in fact turns to murder: the barman from Marcon, a Venetian town, was in fact first attacked, with numerous fatal blows to the head and chest, and then thrown into the river.

The boy had participated in a shamanic ritual in an event organized at the deconsecrated abbey of Vidor: initially it was thought that after taking hallucinogens and psychedelic substances he had wandered off in a state of confusion and accidentally fell into the river . But according to the doctors involved, death would have occurred before ending up in the river: in fact, in addition to altering substances, numerous wounds, including fatal ones, to the head and chest, caused by a blunt object, were also found in his body.
The body of the 25-year-old was found lifeless on an islet in Ciano del Montello last July 2nd, after disappearing on June 30th: he disappeared after having participated in two days of shamanic rituals while drinking < strong>ayahuasca
in the deconsecrated Abbey of Vidor, province of Treviso, a few kilometers away from where he was found lifeless. The autopsy clarified the dynamics of death. The examination was carried out by the medical examiner Alberto Furlanetto, appointed by the Treviso Prosecutor’s Office, and by Antonello Cirnelli, expert for the victim’s family.

“DEAD OF NON-ACCIDENTAL VIOLENT CAUSES”

The chief prosecutor of Treviso Marco Martano then explains that Alex’s death occurred due to “violent and non-accidental causes”. And again: “The most probable hypothesis – he continues – is that Alex suffered an attack by a contending body and ended up in the water after a few minutes, already in very serious conditions, and then drowned in the river”.

Death would have been caused by internal bleeding due to trauma to the chest. The report also highlighted numerous head injuries, probably caused by a blunt object. Not only that, the terrible hypothesis of a violent attack by multiple people arises. The examination on Alex “renders a disturbing picture, that of a powerful, elusive attack, during a struggle which does not fit well with the case”, the lawyer tells TgCom24 Nicodemo Gentile, who together with his colleague Stefano Tegani assists the Marangon family. “There is no reason – he adds – and no reason to believe in suicide or anything else”.

THE APPEAL OF THE FAMILY: “THE WHO KNOWS, SPEAK”

For the family, from the beginning, the hypothesis was that of murder. The autopsy “highlighted – Gentile continues – a blow on the left side of the head, attributing the incident to more than one person”. Therefore Alex would have been killed by multiple people.  For the family “there are those who know, they let Alex die without intervening and now they remain silent without reporting the truth”. Hence the appeal to the group who participated in the ritual, about twenty people: “The appeal we address to you, in a spirit of mercy – they say through the lawyers – is to speak: more people know what happened”.
