ROME – On 15 June Alberto Sordi would have turned 104. To celebrate him, on 28 June the first docufilm on his private life entitled ‘Alberto Sordi secret‘, taken from the book of the same name (published by Rubbettino) written by the journalist and Rai presenter Igor Righetti, cousin of actor, who is also the director and screenwriter. The takes took place in some places dear to the national Alberto such as the Capital, the archaeological park of Ostia Antica and the village where Pietro Marchetti (‘Il taxinaro’) lived, Castiglioncello, Narni, Fabriano and the Republic of San Marino.
The docufilm consists of a documentary part with unpublished contributions from the actor’s friends and relatives including the director Pupi Avati, the announcer and TV presenter Rosanna Vaudetti strong>, Totò’s niece Elena de Curtis, the king of the paparazzi Rino Barillari, Patrizia and Giada de Blanck, Sabrina Sammarini (daughter of actress Anna Longhi), Tiziana Appetito and Alessandro Canestrelli (children of the still photographers of dozens of Alberto Sordi’s films, Enrico Appetito and Alessandro Canestrelli senior), Jason Piccioni (son of the composer and musician Piero), the actress Piera Arico (wife of Gastone Bettanini, great friend and first secretary-agent of Sordi until 1965) and his daughter < strong>Fiona Bettanini, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Post, Cooperation and Expo of the Republic of San Marino Federico Pedini Amati, the publisher Cecilia Gremese strong>, the director of photography Sergio D’Offizi, the mayor of Sgurgola (the town where Alberto’s mother, Maria Righetti, was born) Antonio Corsi, the journalist Luca Colantoni, the director of the ‘Marchese del Grillo’ relais Mario D’Alesio and the chef of the structure Emanuela Della Mora, Fabio Bianchi(former president of the Marchese del Grillo association), family photos, original video and audio. This part is linked to another where the narration becomes a black and white film story with characters who actually lived, in which Alberto Sordi’s childhood and adolescence in the 1920s and 1930s is shown thanks to the performances of beloved actors and actresses from the general public such as Enzo Salvi, Fioretta Mari, Emanuela Aureli, Maurizio Mattioli, Daniela Giordano, Dado Coletti, Mirko Frezza, Daniele Foresi, Lorenzo Castelluccio, Emily Shaqiri, Vincenzo Bocciarelli, Fabrizio Raggi, Valerio Mammolotti, Moira De Rossi< /strong> and three boys of different ages who impersonate the actor (Marco Camuzzi, Flavio Raggi and Daniel Panzironi). There is also the extraordinary participation of the dachshund pet influencer with over 46 thousand followers on Instagram Byron Righetti. A biopic in which nothing is fiction, the fruit of imagination, but where instead the dialogues, situations and characters retrace Alberto Sordi’s real life, unknown to the public.
“I collected all the memories of when, with me present, Alberto spoke about his childhood and adolescence – states Igor Righetti – together with my grandfather and my father and I told them through film scenes which, thanks to the exceptional cast, will excite and will make spectators smile. Seeing Alberto as a child so determined and willing to make enormous sacrifices in order to make his dream of becoming the greatest actor come true, or discovering his conflictual relationship with his father who was against his cinematographic ambitions, will make us understand many aspects of his personal life.”
After all, it is known that the actor was very reserved, did not like ostentation and his private life was armored. With the public, to whom he was very attached and grateful – and with his collaborators – he only shared his professional life. A docufilm far from clichés, full of emotions, anecdotes and curiosities, proudly and deliberately independent, as it was made without any public contribution. It will reveal Alberto Sordi off the set, in interviews and official television appearances.
