ROME – The first portrait of King Charles was vandalised. A group of animal rights activists, belonging to the Animal Raising group, attached stickers from the Wallace and Gromit animation series, beloved by Carlo. Among these is a sticker bearing the writing: “No cheese, Gromit. Look at all this cruelty on the RSPCA farms.” The painting, the sovereign’s first official, is on display at the London Gallery until June 21.

The action was implemented tounderline the failures of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals regarding the welfare of farm animals. There would be 45 farms not in compliance with the standards. And we are talking about 280 violations. Last month, the kingbecame Royal Patron of the RSPCA and said he was sensitive to the suffering of animals on farms. This nomination triggered the vandalism project.

The portrait of King Charles was presented in mid-May and attracted numerous negative comments. On a completely blood red background, Elizabeth II’s firstborn is portrayed in a military uniform. The gallery said the painting was not damaged.
