Accident on the metro construction site in Naples: 20-year-old worker dies

Another tragedy at work, a very young worker driving a freight train lost his life

NAPLES – Another death at work. The scene of the tragedy, this time, is the construction site of the Naples metro which will connect Capodichino with Poggioreale. Three other three workers involved in the accident were injured,two reportedly seriously. According to an initial reconstruction, the 20-year-old worker was driving one of the trains used for the transport of building materials, on the tracks of the Secondigliano-Poggioreale route. It is not yet clear whether due to a human being or a technical fault, the convoy would have picked up speed and crashed. The impact was fatal for the driver, while two others on board jumped before the impact. The third, more lightly injured, witnessed the scene and was the first to raise the alarm. The other two workers involved were transported under code red to the Ospedale del Mare.
