ROME – An illness could have been the cause of the terrible road accident that occurred at the A12 motorway toll booth in Rosignano Marittimo, in the province of Livorno. A Honda with two people on board hit the cars stopped in the queue at high speed and then overturned, also damaging the toll booth: the gate was torn away. The two German passengers of the Honda lost their lives, the driver Robert Friendrich Fendt, 61 years old, with his wife Cornelia Maria Schubert, 68 years old, next to him. They were traveling to Rome. There was also nothing that could be done for Marco Acciai, a 21-year-old boy from Florence, aboard the Fiat 500 that was rear-ended at the toll booth, while only the girl with him was injured. The domino effect of the collision involved three other cars, a Hyundai Tucson with a Lithuanian license plate, a Tiguan with an Austrian license plate and a Swiss Ford Cmax, which crashed into the toll booth. Among the six of the total injured in the accident, there are also two children.
In the video you can clearly see how the car comes at full speed and crashes. There are no signs of braking on the ground. The bodies removed by the firefighters were transported to the Rosignano morgue and are now available to the judicial authorities.
