FLORENCE – Two people died in the huge accident on the A1 motorway which occurred after the Valdarno junction, in the direction of Florence, between four heavy vehicles and three cars strong>. Another person, according to what was reconstructed by the Fire Brigade, was injured and was transported by air ambulance to the Careggi emergency room. The firefighters, who arrived on site with two teams “guaranteed the safety of the complex scenario and freed the occupants from the passenger compartment of the cars and heavy vehicles” who were then entrusted to medical personnel. Furthermore, a few meters before the accident, an ambulance from Foligno engaged in an urgent transfer of a child towards Meyer was blocked due to the collision. The police therefore urgently freed a space to allow the ambulance to continue its journey. Furthermore, police patrols and Autostrade personnel intervened on site to manage the road system and facilitate the arrival of emergency vehicles. A crane from the Florence West detachment was also sent, which was then returned.
