‘Acampada’ also in Genoa, he tends to the Faculty of Letters for the “Student Intifada”

The students of Cambiare Rotta ask for an extraordinary academic Senate. "Here until the University listens to us"

GENOA – Tents in the courtyard of Balbi 4 in support of the Palestinian people. The “acampada” also arrives at the University of Genoa, in the spaces of the Faculty of Letters, with what the students of Cambiare route have renamed “Student Intifada”, as evidenced by the banner at the entrance to the building, along the university street, and the Palestinian flag. About thirty young people, marked on sight by about ten Digos agents, started unrolling mats, slats and installing tents starting at nine o’clock, on the occasion of the 76th anniversary of the Nakba.

“We ask for an extraordinary academic Senate – explains Leonardo Ambrosio, spokesperson of the movement – there will be an assembly in which we will discuss our actions. We will propose a program of many political activities to involve university students and relaunch our mobilization until the University listens to us. The objective is to obtain results from this mobilization and for the University to be available to open a dialogue”.

Half a dozen tents are set up, among solidarity banners of “Not one less” and other messages against support for Israel: “Neither a cent nor a bullet for the war of Israel”, we read on a banner complete with a hammer and sickle and the signature “Scr-Towards the revolutionary party”. Or “With the Palestinian resistance. Israel out of the University”, as the sheet states to Change course.

It is not the first action by Genoese students in solidarity with the Gaza Strip. In recent weeks, the university students had tried in vain to convince the academic senate, not without some moments of tension even in the rectorate, to cancel any collaboration agreement with Israeli universities, in particular with regards to the famous foreign ministry announcement.

“In other universities there have been many victories. Here in Genoa the rector Federico Delfino is standing up to our demands – Ambrosio recalls – he continues to declare to the newspapers that it is very available for dialogue, but at the last Academic Senate he ran away, moving the session twice and finally sending it online to avoid any confrontation. This is because he realizes that the Academic Senate would also have questioned some atrocious agreements”. politics also ends up in the sights of students. Changing course takes sides against “all the Zionist propaganda that is in the University, but also on the part of the institutions. Support for Israel was rampant. Even President Toti, who from the first day put a giant Israeli flag on the Region building and who waved the Israeli flag on April 25, is now under house arrest and makes us understand how much he cares to democracy and fairness. The entire political class, from right to left, which legitimizes Israel’s actions brings to light the corruption and rot that is present in Italy”.
