7 layoffs for graphic workers announced at the Dire agency. The solidarity of journalists

A plan for 7 redundancies among the graphic design employees of the Dire agency has been announced. The RSAs and the unions ask to withdraw the plan and reopen the negotiating table

ROME – After more than two years of layoffs, reduced salaries and sacrifices on the part of employees, the editorial line risks putting workers out the door again. In the meeting on May 3, the company reiterated to the unions its desire to proceed with the dismissals of 7 redundancies among the graphic designers, a sector characterized by different and new professionalisms, fundamental for the functioning of the editorial board. A fundamental sector for the company, made up, among others, of video operators, social media managers, administrators, editorial secretaries, front office, salespeople, web editors, graphic designers and programmers, who have guaranteed even in difficult moments for the ‘company the total operation of the agency, despite the solidarity regime.

“In recent months we have sought every type of discussion with the company to avoid the worst case scenario and allow an adequate restart of the entire Dire, an important reality in the national information panorama – explain the unions – an arbitrary decision without any motivation and without any supporting documentation. In these years of crisis for the agency, the graphics department has always guaranteed the operational continuity of the sectors and shown a spirit of collaboration even when benefits such as smart working were not granted. would have allowed the expenses to be amortized”.
“Despite the numerous proposals put forward by Slc Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcomthe company decides to start the dismissal process. We therefore record the total closure by the company and the specific desire to send seven employees home”.

We strongly ask – underline the unions and RSAs –the return to a discussion table between the company and the unions. We also ask for precise information on the real state of the health of the agency, also in light of the recent promotions and hirings made in recent months and after the various layoffs that have occurred in the agency in recent times”.

CDR AGENZIA DIRE: “SOLIDARITY WITH GRAFICI, COMPANY STOPS LAUNCHMENTS” “

The editorial committee of the Dire Agency expresses full solidarity with its colleagues and graphic designers, who risk suffering 7 layoffs in five sectors of the Rome office. In the meeting on May 3, the company expressed its desire to present a new redundancy plan, after the one that affected 14 journalists in December. Once again, the company seems not to want to take into account the sacrifices accepted by the workers. Graphic designers in particular have supported over two years of solidarity. “Despite the numerous proposals put forward by Slc, Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom, the company decides to start the dismissal process. We therefore record the total closure by the company and the specific desire to send seven employees home”, say the unions.
Once again, we observe with concern that the company concentrates the redundancies in the central editorial office of Dire. In light of this situation, we appeal to the company to retrace its steps, for the good of the workers and the well-being of the entire agency.
